Lebanon’s domestic economy is
predominantly based on the entrepreneurial spirit of its people, which results
in a vibrant ecosystem of mostly family-owned micro, small, and medium-sized companies.
Due to the negative impact of the COVID19 pandemic and the overall disastrous economic
situation of the country, most of these companies are in financial distress or
even face bankruptcy.
Simultaneously, Lebanon is blessed with
highly educated and talented young people who are very pessimistic about their
future and seek any opportunity to leave, causing the greatest waves of
“brain drain” the country has ever
experienced.
To tackle these existential problems, HSF
launches the “Young Entrepreneurs Summit” (YES! initiative). YES! was created
to help connect the young entrepreneurs in Lebanon to a network of international
experts and organizations with financial power, global connectivity, and
professional expertise.
The HSF believes that it is imperative for
the youth to regain its trust and rebuild its hope in their homeland through
tangible support and real opportunities for their future in Lebanon. Thus, YES!’s
main objective is to create a
sustainable and effective link for young entrepreneurs to opportunities,
sales channels, and financial instruments irrespective of the nature of their ideas and businesses.
The Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES!) is
an event (or series of events) aimed towards a highly targeted audience slated
for the second half of 2021. The summit aims to invite members of the Lebanese
diaspora from all over the world who possess the expertise and resources
ranging from various fields such as academia, business, and finance, among
others. The entrepreneurs in Lebanon who decide to participate in the event
will then be given the opportunity to consult, present and ask for assistance
from these expert delegates through a series of networking and Q&A
sessions.
Due to the travel restrictions imposed by
the on-going pandemic, the summit is to be a virtual event, where participants
will be given an IP link, within which they can attend the live stream of the
scheduled sessions happening in both the UAE and Lebanon. Depending on the size
and locations of those who want to participate in the summit, other countries
from the Middle East, Africa or Europe may also get linked to the event.
At the end of the summit, a shortlist of
the Entrepreneurs with the potential to grow fast and
could use some consulting or financial
support wiil be announced to culminate the event.
